Purpose of the Internal Audit Department


Provide management with independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and to continuously improve the operations of NamPost. It should assist NamPost to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of Governance, Risk Management and Control processes.

Assist the Chief Executive Officer in maintaining efficient and effective controls by evaluating those controls to determine their effectiveness and efficiency, and by developing recommendations for enhancement or improvement.

Recognizes and complies with the mandatory nature of the definition of internal auditing, code of ethics, principles and standards.

Risk-based audits are carried out as part of the Board Audit Committee approved Internal Audit Annual Plan, with reports detailing control weaknesses and risk areas – with the respective audit recommendations to remedy such weaknesses. The Department also conducts company-wide fraud investigations as well as branch inspections at Post Offices within the regions which is conducted randomly with an element of surprise.

 

The Board Audit Committee meets quarterly and is well informed of audits conducted and other activities of the Department.
